John became an architect after an early career as a cook. While studying liberal arts at the University of Florida, he became deeply interested in how geography and contingency form the world, and how intention and gesture can enrich it. He studied architecture at the City College of New York, and obtained his graduate degree at Boston Architectural College, where his thesis “Rubbing Shoulders with Strangers” focused on how everyday encounters expand the richness of our identity. John first joined Schwartz/Silver shortly after graduating and worked on the renovation of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Yale University’s 87 Trumbull Street, and the Holocaust Museum Boston. After several years living and working in New York, we are delighted he has returned to join us.
