Rockland Fire Department Headquarters & Station

Rockland, Massachusetts

Schwartz/Silver is currently working with the Town of Rockland on the design of a new fire station and fire department headquarters building. The design team is working closely with the Fire Department and Town on site selection, programming, and schematic design. The new fire station will be relocated only a few blocks from the existing 1950s station and will replace an abandoned elementary school. By providing new community outdoor space to the east of the new station, this project will help reinvigorate the neighborhood while also providing a safe, functional home for the department.

The building program for this 28,000 square foot headquarters and fire station will include six apparatus bays, firematic support spaces, firefighter bunk rooms, headquarter administration and fire prevention offices, a 50-seat Emergency Operations Center/multi-purpose room, and the Town’s central dispatch center. Firefighter training is located at the back of the station, hidden from public view.
