The Quincy Trial Court is a new 130,000-square-foot courthouse, designed as both a functional judicial space and a symbol of the city’s rich history and future vision. Inspired by Quincy’s traditional building style, the exterior will feature red brick, connecting the building to the city’s architectural heritage while embodying resilience and strength.

Transparency is a key design principle, with large glass facades allowing natural light to create an open and welcoming environment. This openness reflects a justice system focused on accessibility and community engagement. Public spaces such as a double-height space in the lobby encourage interaction and reflection, reinforcing the courthouse as a civic landmark.

Inside, modern technology enhances efficiency and comfort. Courtrooms are designed for fairness and accessibility, while dedicated mediation spaces highlight a progressive approach to legal proceedings. Embracing the concept of “borrowed light”, clerestory windows allow light to filter into each of the seven courtrooms, ensuring equitable access to daylight. Environmentally conscious features, such as energy-efficient systems and PV arrays help the building minimize its energy impact.

Strategically located in downtown Quincy within a short walk from the Quincy Center train station, the courthouse will serve as a lasting testament to Quincy's commitment to justice and transparency. The building aims to bridge the city’s historical identity with a forward-looking judicial system, standing as a beacon of fairness and civic engagement.
